Welcome to my website! My name is Marina Sorochinski, and I am an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in innovative applied research at the intersection of Criminal Justice and Forensic/Investigative Psychology with a strong emphasis on research methodology. Since Fall 2020, I’m an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at St. John’s University, New York. I received my PhD Psychology (with specialization in Psychology & Law) from CUNY Graduate Center, and have since pursued a range of projects and collaborations in academia and beyond.

St. John’s University is inviting proposals for their all-day conference, “Unlocking Hope: Addressing Post-Release Trauma in the Wrongfully Convicted,” scheduled for October 4, 2024. The conference seeks to explore post-release issues faced by those wrongfully convicted, with the aim to develop support and resources for these individuals as they rebuild their lives. Topics of interest include navigating the legal system after exoneration, strategies for trauma recovery, overcoming employment barriers, and rebuilding relationships. Participants can submit proposals for panel presentations, workshops, and individual presentations, particularly those providing practical guidance and innovative solutions. Proposals will be accepted until May 30th, 2024 and reviewed based on their relevance, originality, and potential to contribute to understanding the challenges faced by the wrongfully convicted.
